Shear Response of Rough Rock Discontinuities Subjected to Impact Loading: Experimental Study and Theoretical Modelling

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract The presence of discontinuities can significantly weaken rock masses, whose shear load-bearing capacity is always dictated by discontinuity failures. response has been extensively studied under low loading rate conditions, while the effect impact on its strength was unclear. To address this issue, samples with quantified surface roughness were tested six normal stresses (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% uniaxial compressive strength) different rates (varying from 100 MPa/ms to 700 MPa/ms) a novel-designed testing system. Experimental results show that proportional exhibits significant dependence. Moreover, cohesion clearly rate-dependent friction angle keeps constant during loading, which shows obviously behaviors those static conditions. Considering parameters, criterion rough established. Furthermore, statistical constitutive model proposed incorporating Weibull distribution damage. successful application theoretical experimental data models well predict describe damage loading.

Numerical and Experimental Investigations on the Behavior of Steel-reinforced Concrete Columns Subjected to Eccentric Loading

Steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) columns, which are classified as composite columns, became the most widely used in recent years; because of their extensive advantages over the reinforced concrete and the steel columns. In this paper, the ductility index and its influential factors were explored to investigate the behavior of SRC columns. A straightforward approach was then proposed by establish...

Centrifuge modelling of long piles subjected to lateral loading with high load eccentricity in sand

In this research paper, five centrifuge lateral loading tests of long piles with a considerable load eccentricity were carried out in the sand to investigate the impacts of the load eccentricity and pile length changes on the lateral behavior of a flexible pile beside the determination of experimental p-y curves. Comparing experimental test results with the recommended API (American Petroleum ...

A Proposed Method to Evaluate Ultimate Resistance of Plate Girders Subjected to Shear and Patch Loading (RESEARCH NOTE)

Experimental investigation of the ultimate resistance of slender, steel-plate girder web panels to combined shear-and-patch loading indicates significant interaction between shear loading and patch loading. However, an existing interaction formula is based on experimental results. Herein, an improved design procedure for slender plate girders subjected to combined shear and patch loading is pro...
